I made broth yesterday, for the first time, following an old family recipe more in spirit than in fact. Here's how it goes...
Ingredients - soup bones, onions, vegetables, barley, water, salt, pepper, six-pack of beer.
Instructions - boil the bones and onions for the time it takes to drink four beers, strain the stock, strip the bones, put the vegetables, barley and meat in the stock and and boil for another two beers. Season to taste.
Six-beer soup.
I wasn't feeling so good yesterday so I used a conversion factor of 1 beer = 30 minutes rather than actually drinking the things, but you get the gist.
