Are brilliant. It's a great name for a band, as well.

She has a marvellous voice and is a fantastic fiddler, they are among the best young English folk musicians and the music is rhythmic and strong, with marvellous tight harmonies. Their CDs have just gone into the top of my 'to buy' list. Two of the Rat Catchers also play in Bellowhead, whom I am going to see next week. Look forward to it.

The Daniel Lapp Trio were supporting, and they are also worth a listen. He is from British Columbia and the music he played from there, reels, waltzes and other things, were distinctive and interesting. I'm going to be looking some of them up. He is a technically great musician and wouldn't be out of place in a jazz club when he starts soloing, but there were times when the flights of improvisation started getting pretty abstruse and dull, and not what I was there for in a folk festival. His party trick was playing Amazing Grace on the trumpet while accompanying himself on the violin. Highly talented musician, and so were the other two of the trio.
