Party party
Jul. 3rd, 2005 02:08 amThis evening I went to Eliza's 21st birthday party. Now, my date of birth is on record not far way from this post and as Eli said in her invite to the Glasgow SF writers circle, she's not young, we're all old. So I wasn't expecting really to feel that it was my place and to bugger off early. I was nicely surprised; Eli's friends, although they are young, are not particularly stupid and the conversation was good. Eli was also a good hostess; she was so pleased that each person had turned up. She was also incredibly pleased by the fact that *so many* people had showed. It's really nice to see someone being shown how many friends they have.
Beforehand I went to see Sin City. What a film. The comic-style violence of some of the sequences was funny in some places and gross in others. The actual cinematography put the comic on to the screen in a way that hasn't been attempted since Dick Tracey, and far more successfully. Mickey Rourke is brilliant and Elijah Wood is also creepily good.
