World War I has always had to power to crush me by the sheer weight of incompetence and idiocy and senselessness and BARBARITY of it - yes, there is no good war, but WWI was somehow worse than any of them for me. I don't know why. If I believed in reincarnation to that extent, I think I might have died in it or something in a previous lifetime.
